Monarchs Continue Hot Streak

Great pitching led the Monarchs to the 6-3 victory on Thursday. Jackson Eberly (Ave Maria) started the game for Sanford and was able to keep the Boom’s offense quiet. The Monarchs jumped off to a 2-0 lead after an RBI double from Drake Rodriguez (St. Petersburg) and RBI single from Xavier Rosado (Stetson). Lake Mary was finally able to crack into the runs column after scoring on an error in the 4th inning to bring the score to 2-1. Andrew Pettit (Pasco-Hernandez) came in relief for the Monarchs and was dominant for 5 innings, only giving up one earned run and fanning four batters. Sanford was able to pull away in the 8th inning, in large part by Scott Reeves’ (Daytona) 2-RBI single, bringing the score to 6-3. Reece Lisle (Stetson) was called in to finish the game off in the ninth and was able to record a 1-2-3 inning to secure his first save and the victory for the Sanford Monarchs, bring their record to 2-5 on the year. The Monarchs pitching staff put on a clinic on Thursday, only allowing the one earned run and not walking a single Boom hitter. They hope to take this momentum into their next game on Saturday against the league-leading Thunder.
