Flawless Performance Leads to 7 Game Win Streak.

The Monarchs were able to put up ten in this mercy rule shortened game. Sanford’s offense was ready early, putting up three runs in the first inning off some sloppy defense and an RBI single by Xavier Rosado (Stetson). Rosado came up big in the second inning again, this time bringing in two on a single to cap off a five run second for the Monarchs. After the Boom scored on a wild pitch in the third, Rosado hit in his forth RBI of the game on a grounder to short to give Sanford a 10-0 lead in the fourth inning. They would maintain this lead through the seventh inning to bring the game to an end on a run rule. Though the offense was a huge aspect of this game, the Monarch’s pitching continued to dominate on Wednesday. Benjamin Berggren (Bethune-Cookman) tossed five innings of shutout ball, only giving up two hits and striking out four batters while getting the win. Reece Lisle (Stetson) followed up with two strong innings of no hit baseball to seal the deal for the Monarchs. Sanford improved their record to 8-5 while Leesburg still remains in second place with a 7-6 record.
