Deland and Winter Garden both had dominating performances on opening day, with both teams winning by run rule. However, their battle this Wednesday afternoon resulted in a 4-4 stalemate.
Winter Garden got out the gates fast, scoring 3 runs in the game’s first 3 innings. This was thanks in large part to Ty Greene, as he hit a 2-run home run in the bottom of the third. He tallied two more hits on the day and drove in a total of 3 - a good day’s work for the Titan out of Eastern Florida. Jason Grant was not far behind, going 2-4 on the day.
Deland had a steady day at the plate, with seven different players recording a hit. Among them, Frankie Delgato and Joseph DeSienna jump off the stat sheet, as both players logged a double.
Gunnar Harrison was a bright spot for Deland out of the bullpen, giving the Hammers 3 innings of shutdown relief while striking out 3. Brighton Taylor turned in a similar performance for Winter Garden, only needing 19 pitches over two scoreless innings.
Both teams remain undefeated at 1-0-1 and will be back in action on Saturday.
