Sanford rallied to score 3 in the top of the ninth as they beat Leesburg 9-7.

This game was truly a back and forth affair. Leesburg came out of the gates hot, putting up 3 runs in the first inning. Sanford answered in a big way in the fifth, putting up a 6-spot. This was thanks in large part to the efforts of Canyon Brown and Javier Marcial, as they both turned in multi-hit performances.

Leesburg’s offense had plenty of answers as they scored 2 in the sixth, and 2 in the 8th to give them a 7-6 lead heading into the top of the ninth. Trenton Bullen and Noah Lucas both played a major role, with each having a double and RBIs.

The final blow to Leesburg’s efforts came from the bat of William Poure, as he belted a go-ahead two-run home run in the top of the 9th to give the monarchs the 9-7 lead. The blast was Poure’s second in as many games. He also came in to pitch in the 7th and was stellar, allowing one earned run and closing out the rest of the game.

Sanford will look to continue the momentum on Monday against Winter Garden, while Leesburg will look to bounce back as they host Deland.
