Hammers win third straight

Deland shut-down Sanford on Saturday to win by run-rule, 8-0.

The pitching staff for the Hammers was incredibly efficient. Three pitchers - Ned Presley, Peyton Ricko, and Blaine Hogue - combined to only need 80 pitches in 7 shutout innings. Presley got the start and was stellar once again, lowering his ERA to 1.12 on the year.

Offensively, Zach Stanko led the charge for Deland. The Lancer from Longwood University was the only hitter to get multiple knocks on the day for the hammers. Jax Banco put the proverbial nail in the coffin, adding an RBI double in the 7th.

Javier Marcial and Ronald Hopper were the lone bright spots in the game for Monarchs, as they both went 2-2 on the day and collected Sanford’s only hits.

Deland is now hot, winning their third straight. They will look to make it four in a row on Monday against the Warthogs. Sanford falls to 2-3, and will host the Bulldogs on Monday.
