Boom now at top of league standings

Lake Mary is now alone on top of the league, after their 5-3 win on Thursday against Deland. The rain-shortened 6 inning game saw DeLand jump out to a 2-0 lead in the 2nd inning thanks to sac-fly’s from Frankie Delgado and Jax Banco. The Boom then responded in the third inning with a pair of runs on singles from Logan McClure and Tyler Michael

The Boom then pulled away scoring a run in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings before the weather put an end to the ballgame. The lineup was busy all day for the Boom, with 9 of the 12 batters reaching base safely.

Lake Mary holding DeLand to just 3 runs is no small feat, as the Hammers have a league-best .334 batting average as a team. While the Boom may have the head-to-head advantage, both teams have a cushion for the top two spots in the league. Both teams will be back at their respective homes on Saturday, with Lake Mary hosting Winter Garden and DeLand hosting Sanford.
