Big days for DeSiena, Banco

The Hammers beat the Bulldogs on Monday 8-4.

DeLand’s offense was clicking early, putting up 2 runs in the second courtesy of back-to-back doubles by Joseph DeSiena and William Martinez. Winter Park then answered quickly, as Sam Putt launched a 2-run blast to left in the top of the 3rd. The Bulldogs scored 4 total in that inning, but it was all they could manage in the game. DeLand then added 3 runs in the 4th, and 1 run in the 5th to secure the victory.

Jax Banco continued his stellar year with a two-hit, 2 RBI game for DeLand. This raised his batting average to .526 on the year - good for second highest in the entire league as we enter the All-Star break.

Caden Reeves added on to his strong season on the mound for DeLand, giving them 2 scoreless innings. His 1.64 ERA is now top-5 in the league. Lex Sanchez was shut down for the Bulldogs, giving up no runs in his 4 innings of work.

The Victory keeps DeLand in sole possession of second place in the league standings heading into the break, while Winter Park will be back in action on Wednesday against Leesburg.
