The Florida League would like to congratulate the members of the 2021 Division II All-League 1st-Team!

League MVP : Jacob French - Boom - Florida State University 

Lake Mary’s road to the title was led by no other than Jacob French. The junior outfielder led the league with a .528 batting average, and 17 RBI’s. Time and time again, he came through in big moments - including 2 RBI’s in the championship game. Even more eye-popping, may be the fact he only struck out 3 times in 36 AB’s. His success did not go unnoticed, earning him a call-up to the Sanford River Rats in the final parts of the year. A season for the record books! 

CY Young Winner : Shane Cross - Bulldogs - Santa Fe College 

In a league full of quality candidates, freshman Shane Cross stood out from the rest. Cross was top-6 in the league in total innings pitched at 23.2, and had a league best 1.52 ERA. In addition, he had a .76 WHIP, good for second best in the league. Opponents batted an ultra-low .160 against him as well. His efforts earned him the call up to the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs. 

First Team Hitters: 

Cade Brewer - Hammers - Old Dominion

The DeLand catcher was phenomenal at the plate, one of 2 players to bat above .500 on the season. His .600 OBP was the highest in the league, and his 5 doubles were tied for second. 

Mason Wilson - Bulldogs - Rollins

The incoming freshman made a splash at the plate, hitting .429 and driving in 10 runs over 13 games. He was proficient at hitting the long ball, launching 3 home runs - good for second in the league. 

Javier Marcial - Monarchs - Western Oklahoma State College 

The sophomore was the star of the Sanford lineup all year, hitting .375 and getting on base at a .512 average. He also tallied 2 home runs while driving in 9 in 12 games. 

Tony Mack - Bulldogs - North Carolina A&T

Mack was an all around player for Winter Park all year. Their leadoff batter, he had an OBP of .455 in a league-high 55 plate appearances. He led the league in stolen bags with 9 and was lockdown at shortstop, only surrendering 3 errors. 

Ty Greene - Warthogs - Eastern Florida 

Greene was top-3 in the league in both batting average and RBI’s, at .458 and 13 respectively. His 4 home runs were the most in the league, as well as his 22 hits. Solid defensively, committing only 1 error all year at 3rd base. 

Sam Putt - Bulldogs - Rollins College

Putt was a staple of the Bulldogs’ lineup the entire year - batting .361 with an OBP of .444. His 3 home runs were tied for second most in the entire league. 

Zach Stanko - Hammers - Longwood University 

Stanko was a force in the middle of DeLand lineup, batting .438. He drove in 11 runs on the year and was efficient - only striking out 3 times. 

First Team Pitchers: 

David Richards - Bulldogs - Fordham

Richards was the other half of Winter Park’s dominant 1-2 combo, going 24 innings with a 2.25 ERA. Opponents batted a measly .182 off him, striking out 25 times. 

Brett Birchler - Boom - South Florida State

The lefty was extremely effective for the league champion Boom down the stretch. He struck out 26 batters over 26 innings, collecting a sub-3 ERA in the process. 

Brighton Taylor - Warthogs - St. Peter University

Taylor took the ball and ran for Winter Garden, one of only 2 pitchers compiling over 30 innings on the season. He struck out 34 while registering an impressive 1.32 WHIP. 

Gunnar Harrison - Hammers - Embry-Riddle

Harrison was stellar all season en route to being a Cy Young finalist. He went 3-0 and put up the second best ERA in the league at 1.69. Registered 19 punch-outs in 16 innings of work. 

Ned Presley - Hammers - Central Florida

Presley had electric stuff on the mound all season, striking out 28 in just 19 innings. Equally impressive was his precision and control, only walking 5 batters on the year.
