DeLand beat Winter Park 7-2 in season opener to start the season. DeLand scored first in the bottom of the 1st with rbi singles from Brandon Sowers and Jesael Garcia. The DeLand Hammers did their damage by using power and playing small ball. The Hammers' Dillon Huber hit a solo home run in the bottom of 5th,and the team stole a total 9 bases throughout the game. 

Dariell Melendez earned the win for DeLand as he pitched 2 innings. He surrendered 3 hits and 1 run in his outing with 3 strikeouts. Winter Park was led by Paul Silva and Desean Rodgers offensively as they both drove in a run for the Bulldogs.
