Leesburg Strokes 15 Hits in a 8-2 Win

SANFORD, Fla. - The Leesburg Thunder (12-5) pounded out 15 hits on Thursday afternoon, easing their way to an 8-2 win over the Sanford Monarchs (10-7-2).

With a 1-0 lead after three innings, Leesburg added to their lead by scoring two in the fourth to extend their lead to 3-0. Carter Brown and Damani Thomas each picked up an RBI. 

Sanford responded with two of their own in the bottom of the inning on a two-run homer by Michael Harkcom to make it 3-2. 

Monarchs starter Dominic Jeancola ran into even more trouble in the fifth as the Thunder rattled off four hits and scored four more runs to extend their lead to 7-2. Jesse Getford began the scoring output with an RBI single, scoring Cody Cannon. Luis Montalvo followed with another RBI single, scoring Getford to make it 5-2.

An error by the Sanford shortstop and a double by Jeremy Migliori added to the party, running up the lead to 7-2. 

Kyle Brana was excellent for Leesburg, going six innings — allowing just two runs on six hits. He struck out five while earning the win. 

Getford and Thomas each picked up three hits for the Thunder.
