Freedom Knock Out Tangelos, Advance

SANFORD, Fla. - The Winter Park Freedom used a seven-run fourth on Wednesday morning to defeat the Winter Garden Tangelos in the first game of the Futures League playoff, 12-5.

Evan Lumbert stifled Winter Garden, striking out 14 batters in six innings of work. He allowed three runs on seven hits, picking up the win. 

Winter Park provided Lumbert with an early lead in the first, scoring two. 

The two teams exchanged runs in the second and third but the Freedom broke through in the third, increasing their lead to 10-1. 

The Tangelos gave their best attempt at a comeback, scoring two in the sixth and one in the eighth and ninth, but the Freedom made sure to secure their lead.

Jordan Hicks led the way for Winter Park, finishing 3-for-4 with four RBI. Dean Niarchos also went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
