The Monarchs battled it out with the Freedom in a high scoring affair on Monday. Sanford came out in the 1st inning scoring 3 runs behind an RBI double from Bobby Spitulski, followed by a 2-RBI bomb from Adrian Delgado. More insurance came along the way for the Monarchs, as Delgado, Barnett, and Carpenter all knocked in runs. Winter Park stormed back to tie the game in the 7th after being down 7 runs. Jonathan Levin was the highlight of the inning, coming up big for the Freedom on a huge 3-RBI single. The game was tied at 9 in the 9th inning until Julian Nunez walked it off for the Freedom on a game-winning RBI single. Winter Park won in walk off fashion, 10-9. William Bowden was credited for the win.

Winter Park was at it again on Tuesday, facing off against DeLand. The game was knotted up at 1 in the 4th until the Freedom added 2 runs on Rody Webb’s RBI single, and an RBI double from Wade Cuda. Cuda’s big day continued in the 6th when he ripped a triple, which ended up turning into an inside-the-park HR, as he got the unearned extra base on an error. One more came in the 9th on an RBI single from the big first baseman, Will Saxton. Solid outings on the mound from Andrew Smith (win) and Casey Wright (save) led the way for Winter Park to a 5-2 victory.

Winter Garden and Leesburg met on Tuesday for a double header. Leesburg got out to an early 1-0 lead after Brody Rubenstein plated on a wild pitch. Winter Garden was quiet until the 6th when Jake Jarvis reached base on a single and later scored to tie the game at 1. Tanner Clark came up big for the Thunder when he knocked in the go-ahead run on a single in the 7th. Xavier Rodriguez shut the door on the Suns in the bottom of the 7th to pick up the save. The Thunder’s Colby Woodard was impressive in 4.2 innings, striking out 7 batters. Cameron Recny was credited for the win in relief.

Leesburg started off the 2nd game of the double header with some spotty pitching, walking the first FIVE Winter Garden batters. The Suns added more when Luke Henson scored on a SAC fly from Matt Morgan, followed by a run from Tanner May on a fielder’s choice. Leesburg turned around quickly in the 2nd scoring 4 runs behind a 2-RBI single from Xavier Rodriguez, and also an RBI single from Brody Rubenstein. Will Thomas and Emilio Alzarez highlighted the 3rd inning with a 2-RBI and RBI single from both of the Thunder players, respectively. Winter Garden tacked on a run late but it wasn’t enough, as they fell to the Thunder, 8-6. Alex Smith picked up the win, and Ronnie Ingram was credited with the save.

Winter Garden took it to the Monarchs on Wednesday, defeating them 8-1. Jackson Campbell knocked in Benniefield in the 1st inning helping them get out to an early 2-0 lead. The Suns added to their lead in the 4th behind RBI singles from Giovanni Garcia and Jaylyn Young. They kept it coming in the 9th when Julio Montes and Tanner May brought in a combined 3 runs. Collin Booten got the win, throwing 5 innings and giving up just 3 hits, while sitting down 5 batters.
