6-4 WP @ WG ( 13-12 WP)

The Winter Park Freedom visited the Winter Garden Tangelos to kick off the Futures League season. An error in the top of the first, followed by a Steven Valentine (Ave Maria) double led to two runs to start off the scoring for Winter Park. Winter Park held a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the fourth inning where Winter Garden responded with 9 runs at the bottom of the frame coming off of 6 hits and 3 walks. Winter Park came back and scored 10 runs over the next 4 innings including a 3 run 8th inning which gave the the Tangelos the 13-12 lead. Kelvin George (Trinity Baptist College), Harry Storch (Lawrence Technological University) and Jonathan Santiago (Nyack College) all had two hit games for the Freedom. Luke Henson (Lenoir-Rhyne University) went 4 for 4 in a losing effort for the Tangelos. 

 

6-5 LM @ Sanford (8-1 LM)

The Lake Mary Shockers and the Sanford Monarchs kicked off their season at Sanford Memorial Stadium. Tyler Krowiak (Keuka College) had a 2 run RBI single in the top of the first, and later scored off an infield error to give the Shockers a 3-0 lead. Lake Mary continued the scoring in the second with 3 more runs as result of two early walks and a Gabriel Adams Jr. (Saint Michaels College) double. The Shockers pitching staff held the Monarchs to 2 hits through 9 innings of play. Kevin Ortiz (USCB) threw 5 shutout innings only giving up 1 hit. Reynaldo Rodriguez closed out the game throwing 4 innings allowing no earned runs. 

 

6-6 LM @ WG (5-0 LM)

The Lake Mary Shockers played the second game of their back to back road trip against the Winter Garden Tangelos. The Shockers pushed across 3 runs in the third inning thanks to 5 straight walks to take the early 3-0 lead. 8 total walks helped the Shockers push across 5 runs through out the game.  Garrett Capman (Stetson) and Gabriel Adams Jr. (St. Michael’s College) both had two hits a piece for the Shockers. Luke Ostenson struck out 10 in 4 innings only allowing one hit. 

 

6-6 WP @ Sanford  (5-2 Sanford)

The Winter Park Freedom faced off against the Sanford Monarchs at Sanford Memorial Stadium. The Monarchs started the game off with a 1-2-3 first inning by Chris Ragosta. The Monarchs followed this scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the inning. Winter Park responded in the 4th inning with 2 runs due to a Sanford error, and a RBI single from Wade Cuda (Stetson). Sanford pushed across another run coming off a Steven Jerry RBI single in the 5th.  Sanford was led by Britt Crawford (University of West Florida) who was 2-2 on the day with a walk and a run, and Chris Ragosta who gave up no runs in 4 innings. Harry Stroch (Lawrence Technological University) went 1-3 with a run scored for the Freedom. 

 

6-9  Winter Garden Tangelos @ Winer Park Freedom (9-4 WP)

The Freedom hosted the Winter Garden Tangelos at Bishop Moore High School. With the game tied 1-1 Winter Park put up 4 runs in the bottom of the fourth behind a 2 RBI triple from Hunter Todd (Catonsville Community College). A 2 RBI double from Matthew Miller (Eckerd College) helped Winter Garden put up 3 runs in the top of the 6th to make the game 5-4. Winter Park scored 4 unanswered runs to finish out the game, including a 3 run 7th inning thanks to a 2 RBI single from Herny Strotch (Lawrence Technological University). Jonathon Santiago (Nyack) lead the way at the plate going 3-4 for the Freedom, while Robyn Steensdra threw 4 no hit innings for the Freedom. 

 

6-9 Sanford @ LM (7-2 LM)

The Sanford Monarchs played their first away game of the season against the Lake Mary Shockers. Lake Mary jumped out to a 3-0 lead after scoring 1 in the second inning and 2 in the fourth. Sanford responded with 2 runs in the 6th inning by drawing a few walks. Lake Mary came back with 4 unanswered runs, 3 of which game in the 7th inning. Gabriel Adams Jr. (Saint Michaels College) led the way for the Shockers going 3-5. Logan Collie (Liberty University) threw 5 shutout innings striking out 10.
