Winter Park suffered a tough opening day loss versus the Thunder via a walk-off. On Wednesday, the Bulldogs recovered against Sanford, getting their first win of the season thanks to a walk-off from Sam Putt.

Hector Mangual was the hero of the game for Sanford. Down by one, the Missouri Tiger belted a solo home run to tie the game. Thus, making it a 2-2 ballgame heading into the bottom of the 9th.

Gabriel Cruz led off the inning for the Bulldogs with a walk, and proceeded to advance to second on a single by Shady Farah, and then to third on a sacrifice fly from Carter Stelly. Sam Putt then stepped up to the plate and delivered the game winner on a ground ball up the middle. Putt spearheaded the charge offensively for the Bulldogs the entire game, going 2-3 with 2 RBIs.

Both starters - Jacob Nunez and Shane Cross - turned in stellar performances. Nunez struck out 7 in four innings, allowing only 1 run. Cross fanned 4 in his 5 innings on the bump, and allowed only 1 run - a solo home run from William Poure in the third.

Winter Park is now 1-1 on the year, while the Monarchs fall to 0-2.
