The Boom exploded late to run-rule Sanford, 13-5.
It was a pitcher’s duel early in the game. The Phillip Goepferich and Quentin Graves matchup lived up to the hype, as both pitchers got the start and went 5 innings. Goepferich missed a lot of barrels, as the raider from Seminole State struck out 7. Graves was not far behind, as he struck out 5. Both pitchers only allowed 4 hits, and neither allowed more than 2 runs.
This all changed in the bottom of the 5th, when Lake Mary’s offense put up a 10-spot. The inning was a marathon, with 9 consecutive batters reaching base safely. Jake French was a menace at the plate, going 4-5 while also driving in two runs on the day. Ryan Kurth added to the onslaught, with a two-RBI double. David Baillio turned in a notable stat as well, with his 4 walks being the most in a single game in the league this season.
Lake Mary will look to stay hot, riding a 3-game win streak into Saturday’s matchup at home against Winter Garden.
