Winter Park put an end to a brief two-game skid on Saturday, blowing out Leesburg 11-2.
It was a dominant performance in all areas by the Bulldogs. Shane Cross got the start and went the distance - going seven and a third innings while only allowing 2 runs.. The freshman from Orlando has been absolutely phenomenal in his 3 appearances this season, logging a team-best 0.87 ERA.
The offense for Leesburg did their part as well. Shady Farah launched a solo home run in the 6th inning, his first of the year. Gabriel Cruz was busy as well, posting his second-consecutive multi-hit game. Anthony Failla put the game out of reach in the 4th, with a bases-clearing 3-RBI single to make it a 6-0 ballgame. Winter Park will look to build off this offensive breakthrough and overcome their slow start at the plate as a team.
Jaden Hennel collected the lone extra-base hit for Leesburg, with a double in the third inning.
Leesburg falls to 2-4 on the year, while the Bulldogs improve to 2-3. Both teams will be in action again on Monday.
