Minson and Taylor fuel Winter Garden victory

Winter Garden defeated Leesburg relatively easily on Monday, 7-1. The top half of the lineup was big for the Warthogs, with every player collecting a hit. Most notably, the 5-hole hitter Lance Minson had himself a day. The sophomore out of Embry-Riddle collected 3 hits and drove in 2 runs, as the only Warthog to have multiple hits. Ty Greene did his part as well and got the lineup started early, knocking in 2 runs on a double in the first inning.

Brighton Taylor was the antidote for the Thunder’s lineup on the bump. The right-hander turned in his best start of the season for the Warthogs, going 6 scoreless innings. Clayton Boroski followed him in 3 innings of relief. Clayton only allowed 1 run while striking out 4. Juan Hurtado was the only Leesburg pitcher to escape without a scratch, not allowing an earned run as he closed the final 3 innings.

The Warthogs will look to continue their momentum on July 1st against Lake Mary, Leesburg is back in action on Wednesday against Winter Park.
